Zenith sees the world through rose-coloured glasses

Dernière mise à jour : 8 oct. 2020

With its 288 white diamonds of varying sizes adorning its facetted rose gold case and its striking pink alligator strap, there is no doubt that Zenith’s new DEFY 21 Pink Edition is made for women!

The rose gold bezel sparkles with 44 baguette-cut pink sapphires. Meanwhile, the open black and gold dial exposes the metallic pink treated movement, which extends through to the star-shaped oscillating rotor and can be seen through the transparent case back.

Yet, the pink colour chosen by Zenith is mainly about giving, testifying to the watchmaker's commitment to supporting the fight against breast cancer.

Zenith commits to Pink Ribbon Switzerland

Since 1994, the colour pink has come to represent the support of various breast cancer awareness campaigns and this month has come to be known as "pink October". Furthermore, the famous pink ribbon has become a symbol of all those affected by the disease around the world.

With that in mind, Zenith has decided to donate a portion of the sales from the DEFY 21 Pink Edition to Pink Ribbon Switzerland, an association that works in the fight against breast cancer. The watch manufacturer also took part in the 10th anniversary Pink Ribbon Switzerland Music Gala held on 26 September at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich.

Zenith donated a unique model of the watch, the DEFY 21 Pink Ribbon Edition, to the auction held during the event, the proceeds from which will be used to fund the Vision I project conducted by the Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research (SAKK). This non-profit organisation has been conducting clinical trials in oncology since 1965 in an aim to provide cancer patients with better and gentler care.

Driven by a self-winding mechanical movement with a 50-hour power reserve, the DEFY 21 Pink Edition has been available for sale since August 2020.
